Thanksgiving – a special time for witnessing!
While God wants His children to always be sharing the good news of Jesus, the Thanksgiving holiday gives us a special encouragement.
In Acts 26, Paul had been seized by the Jews for his preaching of Jesus as the Christ, who would suffer and die and rise from the dead. As he stood before Agrippa, Paul shared his personal testimony: his life before Jesus (v 4-11), how he came to know Jesus (v 12-18) and his life since Jesus came in (v 19-23).
He pointed out the scriptures verified his preaching of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus as the Christ (v 22-23).
In verse 21, Paul says it is his message calling for repentance and a changed life that prompted the Jews to seize him.
Then, in verses 22-23, Paul gave thanks to God for His divine help, and then stated that this divine help was a motivation to witness, “But I have had God’s help to this very day, AND SO (emphasis mine) I stand here and testify to small and great alike.”
As we enjoy family and friends and give thanks to God, may God’s help, His goodness, His faithfulness to you and me, be a reminder to each of us to look for every opportunity to share the Good News with everyone we can!
Have a Happy (witnessing) Thanksgiving.
